There is something timeless and nostalgic about crafting with natural dried botanicals. This DIY dried orange and cinnamon garland fills your whole home with the scent of spiced citrus while adding rustic warmth to any mantel or entryway.

Materials Needed

  • 4-5 large navel oranges or blood oranges
  • Whole cinnamon sticks
  • Dried bay leaves or star anise pods
  • Natural jute twine or bakers twine
  • Large embroidery needle & paper towels

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Slice and Dry

Slice oranges thinly (about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick) using a sharp knife. Pat thoroughly with paper towels to absorb excess juice. Arrange on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake at 200°F (95°C) for 3 to 4 hours, flipping every hour until completely dehydrated and translucent.

2. String and Style

Thread your twine through an embroidery needle. Alternate threading an orange slice, a cinnamon stick (tied through the center), and dried bay leaves. Hang across your fireplace mantel with warm twinkle lights for an ethereal autumn glow!
